Job Description

The Automation Design & Development Director provides strategic and technical leadership for Contacthings’ Test ATE business, driving the development and deployment of next-generation semiconductor test solutions. This role leads multidisciplinary engineering teams, accelerates technology innovation, ensures engineering excellence and successful project execution, and builds scalable engineering capabilities to support business growth, market expansion, and the company’s IPO journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, software, controls, and test engineering to drive innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence.
• Define and execute the engineering technology roadmap, including Test ATE, automation platforms, smart manufacturing systems, and R&D initiatives aligned with business growth objectives.
• Drive the development of next-generation semiconductor test and industrial automation solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, manufacturability, and high-performance standards.
• Provide strategic technical leadership and system architecture direction for complex engineering programs, customer solutions, and advanced automation challenges.
• Oversee end-to-end project execution to ensure delivery within timeline, budget, quality, and customer expectations while effectively managing risks and resources.
• Establish and strengthen engineering governance, including SOPs, design standards, validation processes, and continuous improvement of best practices across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in automation, machine design, semiconductor equipment, or related high-technology industries.
• Proven success in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing complex, large-scale engineering projects.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, decision-making, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Excellent project management and problem-solving skills in fast-paced, customer-driven environments.
